grave post - Maria

an open book, yet not really an open book
We have no idea how old Maria, wife of John, was when she died. We also don't know where John, husband of Maria, is buried, or when he died. Maria was laid to rest in Woodland Cemetery in Guelph. And she was "as good as good could be and loved and was loved". Maybe that's all we need to know.

  1. Judging by the headstone we know Maria was a open book.

  2. We know she was worthy of a pretty special stone. Gosh I haven't had a wobble around Woodlawn Cemetery in quite a while. Must get out there.

  3. Sometimes when so little is written, it makes you want to know more.

  4. The most important things, really, aren't they!

  5. Sometimes, people put what the know in the way of facts on gravestones. Perhaps the stone was an act of charity by some distant family member or friend. A few years ago, a woman died that my brother and I knew casually. She had no stone. So, we made a simple square one out of cement in a wooden frame. What we managed to get on the stone was her name, age and date she died. One bag of cement will make a small stone if anyone needs or feels the need to do the same. I would like a coffee cup sculpted from stone and put on top of my own. Why would I want flowers left me, when it has been McDonald's coffee that I have loved. Come to visit me after I am gone, bring coffee. morningtalkswithjohammers.blogspot.com
